Why does the Monda Student Resource Center exist? Ohio State has many university programs and community partnerships established to meet the essential needs of students. Given the size of Ohio State and the decentralized nature of these programs and partnerships, barriers exist for students where their essential needs are not met.  Essential needs insecurity directly impacts a student’s ability to succeed in college (Regan, 2020). National research has found that among students who experience food or housing insecurity, 32% report it had a negative impact on their academics (Dubick et al., 2016; Hagedorn-Hatfield et al., 2022). Supporting students’ essential needs has a direct impact on their academic and long-term success.

Who can access the Monda Student Resource Center?  The services and programming at the Monda Student Resource Center are available to all Ohio State students (undergraduate, graduate, professional and doctoral) across all campuses who could benefit from essential needs support.

Do I need to make an appointment?  Yes. All students hoping to access the Studnt Food Pantry should schedule ahead of time. Orders can be placed by clicking the link on the website or visiting https://app.pantrysoft.com/login/osu. Please note that all orders must be placed at least four hours ahead of the time that you want to pick up and cannot be placed more than 48 hours in advance.

How can I schedule an appointment to pick up food? Any student may place an order by clicking on the order button at https://app.pantrysoft.com/login/osu. Here students can see our full menu of items and choose a time to pick up their food during our open hours.

How often can I come to the Student Food Pantry?  Students are encouraged to come whenever they need. We understand that students’ needs vary greatly and want to be as accommodating as possible. Though most students come once per week, we know some may need more than one visit per week and some students may only need to come a few times per semester. Regardless of your specific needs we are here to serve you.

What types of food will I receive? This is entirely up to what food items you choose off the menu and may vary depending on what donations are received and what products are in stock. Though inventory may vary, students can choose from a selection of items such as fresh produce, milk, eggs, rice, beans, oatmeal, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, pastas, snacks and more.

Can I choose what kind of foods I get? Yes. The Student Food Pantry is a client choice pantry. When ordering online, you may choose any of the products outlined on our menu. We will try our best to ensure that the items you choose are the items that go home with you. Please note that certain items have higher demand and there are times that we run out of certain items. When this occurs we try our best to offer a substitution.

Are personal care items available? Yes.  Personal care items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, and more. Though we try to keep our personal items fully stocks at all times, these are some of the harder items to come by, so our supplies vary greatly depending on what has been donated and what supplies are available to us.

Can I donate food? We are currently accepting donations of unopened, non-perishable, non-expired food, baby items and hygiene products. Please visti our donation page for more information.

Do you provide volunteer work?  Yes. Please email us at sl-msrc@osu.edu to learn about volunteer opportunities.
